PORCELAIN VENEERS

Porcelain veneers are a versatile solution for aesthetic tooth issues such as chips, cracks, and discoloration, and are typically installed on the front teeth. As a result, they frequently play a crucial role in smile enhancements, and since they are a relatively minor treatment, they offer patients excellent value.

They receive the expertise of an experienced laboratory technician.

They can play a crucial role in smile enhancements, as they are placed on the upper and lower front teeth that are visible when the patient smiles.

They can be used with Digital Smile Design, where treatment is designed around the patient's visage while they smile, and digital mock-ups of the final result are shown to the patient before treatment begins.

They are applicable for multidisciplinary grin makeovers.

WHEN ARE PORCELAIN VENEERS SUITABLE?

Porcelain resists stains better than the resin composite used for composite veneers, and its light-reflecting properties more closely resemble those of natural teeth. To create space for porcelain veneers, however, viable tooth tissue must be removed. In addition, porcelain veneers are more costly than composite veneers because the material is more expensive and skilled dental technicians are required to create them.

WHAT OCCURS DURING A CONSULTATION WITH PORCELAIN VENEERS?

The patient will be evaluated by a specialist skilled in aesthetically demanding, intricate work.

Digital Smile Design is an advanced patient consent tool that allows patients to see what the outcome of their treatment will look like on digital mock-ups that combine digital photographs, video, and treatment planning software. We will have an in-depth discussion with the patient about what they hope to accomplish and will be able to offer this tool.

Given the patient's clinical situation, personal preferences, and budget, we will make an informed recommendation and explain whether porcelain or composite veneers are more suitable.

DO VENEERS NEED TO BE SPECIALLY CARED FOR?

Neither porcelain nor composite veneers require special care, but as with any dental treatment, patients must adhere to their dentist's oral hygiene instructions, which will involve regular brushing and flossing.

Some patients who suffer from teeth grinding, also known as bruxism, may have been told that they are ineligible for porcelain veneers, but studies indicate that this is not the case so long as they wear a Michigan splint while sleeping to protect their dental restorations.

HOW LONG DO PORCELAIN VENEERS LAST?

According to one study, 95 percent of veneers last at least 10 years, and their durability has been linked to the expertise and experience of the clinician who places them. In order to create a suitable surface for the veneer to adhere to, a portion of the natural tooth must be removed, so patients should be aware that a replacement may be required in the future if the veneer becomes injured or if the patient decides to alter the aesthetics of their smile.
