MULTIPLE IMPLANTS

Implants have been utilised effectively for the past four decades. They are titanium tooth replacement roots that are implanted into the mandible to replace missing teeth.

INTEGRATION OF TITANIUM WITH BONE

Dental implants completely fuse with human bone, which grows into the titanium surface and secures them in position. Then, these implants can support fixed crowns and bridges. They can be used to replace a single tooth or an entire arch of absent teeth, as well as to stabilise a loose or uncomfortable denture.

NATURAL LOOKING FINISH

For implants at Smile Hub Dental Clinic, the crown is typically fabricated in Sweden using a combination of computer-aided design and 3D manufacturing technologies, and then hand-finished in Torquay by our dental laboratory technicians to create an attractive, natural-looking final tooth. When these restorations are cemented into position, adjacent teeth are not harmed.

BRIDGES FITTED TO IMPLANTS

It is possible to replace groups of missing teeth with bridgework supported by dental implants. For instance, two implants can support a bridge that replaces three or four teeth, and additional implants can be added if the biting forces are particularly intense or if a larger bridge is required.

MINIMALLY INVASIVE

When placing an implant-supported bridge, it is not necessary to harm the adjacent natural teeth; the implant-supported bridge merely replaces the missing teeth without compromising the remaining teeth. We utilise cutting-edge 3D imaging, software simulations, and guided surgery to aid in planning and implant placement.

WHAT OCCURS DURING A CONSULTATION FOR SEVERAL IMPLANTS?

The initial phase involves meticulous planning. We will typically take clinical photographs and impressions of the existing teeth as a starting point. In the subsequent appointment, implants will be placed and failing teeth will be extracted. If patients are apprehensive, our implant surgeon can provide conscious sedation.

SURGERY IN 60 MINUTES

Our standard method for implant placement involves a single surgical visit. Numerous aspects of treatment are prepared in advance, allowing sophisticated procedures to be completed in approximately 60 minutes.

HOW MANY POSSIBLE IMPLANTS ARE THERE?

Depending on the amount of available bone, four to eight dental implants per mandible can be used to support a fixed bridge that replaces 10 to 12 teeth. The procedure typically involves the placement of two to three implants towards the front of the mandible. Then, we place two to three additional implants in the rear of the jaw, tilted to avoid the sinus in the upper jaw and the nerve supply that provides sensation to the lips in the lower jaw. This procedure is beneficial when only a small amount of residual bone remains, and it frequently eliminates the need for additional complex bone grafting surgery.

TEMPORARY TEETH DURING HEALING

Later in the day, our dental laboratory fabricates a straightforward "immediate" acrylic resin bridge from the preparatory work performed at previous appointments. After up to three months, when the implants have completely fused with the mandible, this provisional acrylic bridge is replaced with a more durable porcelain and metal bridge.
