INVISALIGN

Invisalign is a removable teeth-straightening system that uses clear aligners shaped to suit the gum line to exert pressure on the teeth. In the past decade, it has gained popularity among patients who were concerned about feeling self-conscious while wearing conspicuous orthodontic appliances.

IS INVISALIGN APPROPRIATE FOR EVERYONE?

It is appropriate for the majority of individuals, although it is not always appropriate for complex cases and is limited in multi-disciplinary cases. A specialist orthodontist is proficient at providing comprehensive diagnoses and employing a variety of orthodontic systems, which is an advantage of receiving treatment from them. They will therefore be able to determine whether Invisalign can effectively address the patient's bite, spacing, or crowding issues.

SAFER WITH AN ORTHODONTIST SPECIALIST

This approach differs from that of the majority of general dentists who offer Invisalign but rely solely on the system's diagnostic software and do not offer alternative systems. Therefore, while it may be feasible to use Invisalign in some cases, it may not be the best option for the patient. Only an orthodontic specialist can make the appropriate recommendation.

THE INVISALIGN APP

HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK?

The patient wears a series of clear aligners that can be readily removed for eating and cleaning and are replaced every two weeks. The progression of aligner replacements exerts incremental force on the teeth, which are gradually moved into place. Because the patient can receive multiple aligners in a single visit, fewer appointments are required than with other systems; one every eight to twelve weeks is sufficient, unless the patient requires closer monitoring. The duration of treatment is between six and twenty-four months. Patients can monitor their progress with the My Invisalign Smile app, which provides synchronised support and guidance and allows them to share their smile story on social media.

WHAT OCCURS THROUGHOUT A CONSULTATION?

In the course of a comprehensive evaluation, one of our specialist orthodontists will capture digital photographs and x-rays before evaluating the best treatment options. If Invisalign is selected, they submit the patient's clinical data to Invisalign, order the aligners, and schedule a follow-up appointment to demonstrate how to use them.

HOW SHOULD INVISALIGN ALIGNERS BE CLEANED?

Since they are removable and only worn for two weeks at a time, cleanliness is less of a concern than with other orthodontic devices.
